Non-Philosophy Now: Theory and Practices

This conference will unite researchers from France, Canada, Macedonia and Venezuela to discuss the theory and practice of Non-philosophy, as defined in the writings of François Laruelle. Non-philosophy is not an anti-philosophy or a post-philosophy but rather an autonomous theoretical discipline developed and refined in a series of works published by Laruelle throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Although still largely unknown in the Anglophone academy except to a handful of specialists, Laruelle's thought is slowly but steadily gaining international recognition. In this, the inaugural meeting of the International Non-Philosophical Organisation (INPhO) -a body set up with the aim of co-ordinating the non-philosophical research currently being undertaken in isolation by individuals working in institutions across the globe- participants will explore ways in which the non-philosophical method developed by Laruelle might be elaborated beyond the immediate confines of Laruelle's own writings.
