How to apply

Applications for Pre-Sessional 2012 are now open

You should apply for the Pre-Sessional course at least eight weeks before the start date - particularly if you require a visa to study in the UK. Please check average visa processing times in your country.

To book a place on the course, please complete the application form and submit it with the following:

  • a photograph of yourself (JPEG format);
  • a copy of your English language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL etc);
  • a copy of your passport and your current/previous visa (if applicable);
  • a copy of your previous academic qualifications (used to apply for your main course);
  • your £250 Pre-Sessional course registration fee (non-refundable);
  • any sponsorship documents (if applicable); and
  • a personal statement

Application form

Under the new Points Based System for visas, all Pre-Sessional applications must include the following information:

  • your name exactly as it appears in your passport;
  • highest level academic qualifications. For example, Foundation degree, completion of Access course, BA/BSc degree, MA/MSc degree;
  • passport number; and
  • home address - if not already included on your application.

Payment details

Once we have received your registration fee we will send your Pre-Sessional documentation and a confirmation letter for visa purposes. Please note that we cannot issue any documentation until your payment has cleared our system.

You must send the balance of fees directly to Kingston University no later than one month before the course begins. Please note that we will not guarantee your place on the course or in halls accommodation until you have paid your full fees.

Please note: If you are applying for the Pre-Sessional course less than one month before the start date we require full payment upon application.

We encourage students to make online payments, though bank drafts/transfers are also acceptable:

  • Secure online payment. When making your payment please select 'other payments' – remember to tell us which course you are applying for. There are no additional charges when making your payment online. Important: Please remember to quote your Student ID, name and/or invoice reference.
  • Bank draft or bank transfer (using the bank details below), payable to "Kingston University". Please ensure that any bank charges made by your bank are added to the total amount sent. You will be liable for any bank charges not covered by your payment. Important: Please remember to quote your Student ID, name and/or invoice reference.

Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy

If for any reason you wish to cancel your place on the Pre-Sessional course you must send an email detailing your reasons for withdrawing to fass-ps-info@kingston.ac.uk

  • If a student cancels their place at any point prior to the course starting we will refund all monies paid (less the registration fee). In exceptional circumstances we will refund all monies paid including the registration fee.
  • If you cancel your place during the course we will refund all monies paid, less the registration fee and the course fees for weeks attended.

Please note: Refunds will only be made after the end of the Pre-Sessional course.
