Our philosophy

History Department icon A focus on the interaction of people, ideas and institutions provides the basis for understanding how values are allocated and resources distributed at many levels, from the local through to the national, regional and global.

Politics is about who gets what, when, how, why and where, and raises related questions of power, justice, human rights, order, conflict, legitimacy, accountability, obligation, sovereignty, decision-making and governance.
