Profile

After working in the Drama Department at Kingston for more than a decade I took up the post of Associate Dean (Education) in FASS in January 2016. I continue to teach contemporary theatre courses in Drama and to supervise PhD students in that area.

My research interests are primarily in contemporary theatre, and in more especially in Scottish theatre and performance. I'm interested in the ways identities are constituted through performance, particularly national and gender identities. I have also written about ethnicity in the context of contemporary playwriting.

I am currently one of two Theatre Section editors for the International Journal of Scottish Theatre and Film and I am Treasurer of the Theatre and Performance Research Association (TaPRA).
