Rose Theatre
The opening of the Rose Theatre, Kingston in 2008 has been a major boost for research at Kingston. Drama staff have been central to the project to build the theatre, which has been supported by the University, both financially and through other staff involvement.
The Rose is a formidable research facility, both in itself (with two studio spaces alongside the main space, which was based on the late seventeenth-century Rose Theatre) and through the activities it generates (for example, there is an agreement in principle with a publisher to publish Rose-related material on a regular basis and plans for a conference focused on the Rose, examining the original Elizabethan theatre and its contemporary namesake).
One of the Rose's studio spaces is a dedicated postgraduate space. In addition, Drama uses two studio spaces in its own building, which are full equipped and are supported by a technician and an apprentice.
