Development, Learning and Cognition Group
Research programmes currently in progress include studies of the following: children's cognitive, social, and emotional development in the context of relationships; the social (and parental) influences that shape a child's academic preferences as they enter adolescence; the development of memory and reading abilities; cognitive development in autism and associated disorders; theory of mind; face and emotion recognition; people's ability to exploit and arrange artefacts in their immediate environment to solve problems more efficiently. Research is conducted through an extensive network of collaborating primary and secondary schools in or near Kingston-upon-Thames, as well as in the PRU, which houses purpose-built laboratories.
