How to apply

Applying through UCAS/GTTR

For applications for initial teacher training, you need to apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) or the Graduate Teacher Training Register (GTTR).

For the BA(Hons) Primary Teaching degree and the FdA Early Years, you need to apply through UCAS.

For the Primary and Secondary PGCE courses you need to apply through GTTR.

Obtaining an application form

You will need a UCAS or GTTR application form for 2006 entry. Alternatively, you can apply online at the  UCAS and  GTTR websites.

Both UCAS and GTTR are based at:

Rosehill
New Barn Lane
Cheltenham,
Gloucestershire GL52 3LZ

Tel: +44 (0)1242 223 707

Completing the application form

UCAS allows you to apply to up to six institutions on your application form and these will be sent to all six of your chosen institutions at the same time.

GTTR allows four choices of institution for the Secondary PGCE and two choices for the Primary PGCE. These are transmitted to your chosen institutions in strict rotation.

Please enter the details of institutions and courses clearly and correctly on your form, paying particular attention to UCAS/GTTR codes. You can find these codes on the relevant course pages. Mistakes on your form will delay your application.

Note that the UCAS/GTTR code for Kingston University is King K84.

Returning the application form

UCAS

If you are a British or EU applicant planning to start university in September 2006, you should send your application to UCAS between 1 September 2005 and 15 January 2006.

It is advisable to make your application as early as possible to ensure you maximise your chances of receiving offers. UCAS will categorise your application as late if it arrives after 15 January 2006 (this does not apply for non-EU international students). Kingston University will only consider late applications at its discretion.

GTTR

There are no application deadlines for Secondary PGCE courses. For the Primary PGCE it is recommended that you apply by the GTTR early closing date as demand for this type of course is extremely high.

Course vacancies

You can use the UCAS and GTTR websites to find out if your chosen course is available. The sites offer an easy search facility with the latest information on vacancies at Kingston University and other institutions nationwide.

Interviews

Interviews are an important part of the selection process. The University will make a decision following your interview and you will then be informed through UCAS or the GTTR.
