Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Our innovative CPD programme is designed for a wide range of people working in education or related fields. We work closely with individual schools and Local Education Authorities to produce collaborative courses appropriate to teachers' personal and professional needs. Our courses are also designed for non-teaching staff such as school and college administrators and managers, school inspectors and educational welfare officers.
CPD award-bearing courses, conferences and workshops
We run a range of short courses and conferences which cover topics that reflect current educational issues and provide a forum for discussion. Teachers can gain credit for short course and conference attendance. Study on our award-bearing courses can lead to qualifications at the levels of Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and MA.
The School also offers consultancy sessions.
About the programme
The CPD courses are modular, providing a flexible approach to postgraduate study. We recognise that teachers and other educationalists cannot always commit themselves to following linear programmes of study and so we have built a considerable degree of flexibility into our programmes. All our courses address TDA priorities and achieved excellent ratings in our last Ofsted inspection.
The CPD programme provides both short- and long-term courses for the following groups:
- Teachers who want to update their knowledge
- Teachers who have qualified overseas
- People returning to teaching
- People in a support function who want to qualify as a teacher
- Governors or any adults who work in schools and want to learn more about education.
The award-bearing programmes (longer-term courses) are assessed through course work only, and your work will be strongly rooted in the activities of your professional life. Tasks and assignments will require examples drawn from your practice, and course content and your work activities will complement and test out each other.
All courses are attuned to national or local initiatives and linked with TDA priorities and your professional needs.
