Broadcast by BBC Radio 3 as part of Total Immersion: Wolfgang Rihm - the BBC Symphony Orchestra's celebration of the music of Wolfgang Rihm.
Composers of any age and of any nationality are invited to submit works for workshop rehearsal with the Arditti Quartet at Kingston University London on 8-10 March 2010. The workshops are designed for postgraduate students, postdoctoral composers and composers at the beginning of their professional careers. Wolfgang Rihm, Professor of Composition at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, will guide the workshop sessions.
Some of the selected works will be performed in a public concert at the Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke's on Friday 12 March 2010 at 19:30, together with quartets by Wolfgang Rihm as part of Total Immersion: Wolfgang Rihm, the BBC Symphony Orchestra's celebration of the music of Wolfgang Rihm. The concert will be recorded for future broadcast by BBC Radio 3 on the Hear and Now programme.
Works must be written for string quartet (with or without electronics) and be of 8 to 12 minutes duration.

- Andrew Kurowski (Editor, New and Specialist Music - BBC Radio 3)
