Concerts

Kingston University has an incredibly busy performance programme, in our last 30 week season we presented 76 concerts, nearly all of them featuring student musicians.

The 2009-2010 season will continue this pattern. Music students will perform in the Royal Festival Hall as well as a range of venues in the Greater Kingston area, including The Rose Theatre, and there are plans to take Chamber Choir on tour to the Netherlands.

Not only will we be staging large chorus and orchestral concerts (this year to include two huge multi-media concerts) but other ensembles will be featured in Jazz Futures and our regular lunchtime series, taking place on the Kingston Hill campus.

Following the success of last year's band nights we will be promoting more gigs by students' bands in venues such as The Cricketers, The Fighting Cocks and The Peel. The regular free lunchtime concert series will continue with a host of visiting artists such as the Delta Saxophone Quartet, Jane Manning, Jane Beament, and Stephen Coombs, to name just a few.

We are also proud to announce a new series of First Tuesday jazz lunchtimes at the Rose Theatre, presenting a range of outstandingly good musicians. On the first Tuesday of every month at 1.15-2.00pm (except 1st December, when the time will be 12.00-12.45pm) some of the top names in contemporary jazz will perform. This year's line-up includes: Kate Dimbleby and Malcolm Edmonstone; Meredith White; Julie Dunn; John Horler and Tony Coe; Tina May, and Ted Beament.
