Practice

What our staff say
"I write whenever I can. Being a poet means you don't earn much from the words themselves. Certainly not enough to pay the mortgage! You get paid instead for the skills those words imply, so my working life is ridiculously busy and includes editing, teaching, readings and master-classes - oh, and reviewing. The best days are those when I can write first thing, before my mind gets cluttered with anxieties and obligations. I also love to work on trains: the dreamlike motion helps, as does the sense of stolen time. Between one place and another, I can think and be entirely on my own terms."
